Birthday Party Napoli Style- Summer's birthday feast

On our last night in Naples, in Summer's town of Maddaloni we celebrated her birthday.  Actually everyone aged her a year so this cake had to be corrected to say 37 instead of the 38 even her husband had thought she was.  I don't know if this is typical of celebrations or if this was Kobie's doing since he loves to eat but there was enough food to feed the Navy.  There were about 20 people there and everyone ended up taking food home.  Dinner began around 9 by the time we all got to the restaurant and we didn't get out of there until at least midnight.
On top of that we had to be at the airport by 4:30am the next morning.
The dinner was held at a neighborhood restaurant called Ristorante il sorisso which is where they have most of their celebrations and go for their pizza... great place.

To start off with, these were the appetizers:
I think these fried dough appetizers were called Zeppole..they were the savory variety.  There was also an Arancini and a potato fritter.

French Fries and really gone ones

Caprese pizza.. mozzarella and tomatoes and basil

Pizza with arugula and spicy sausage..so good

prosciutto, salami, mortadella, shrimp, mussels and a potato salad

Caprese salad

olives and fava beans
 Pasta Course:

pasta with mussels..so good I wanted to eat it all but had to pace myself
pasta with mushrooms again delicious

  Meat course:
Grilled steak..sorry it's fuzzy, I think I might have been in a food coma
Fish Course:
Spicy mussels

Fruit Course/dessert
melons, grapes, pineapples, and a South African fruit

Birthday Cake!
And if that wasn't enough they brought out Limoncello, Meloncello, and Grappa!
It's a good thing we walked even if it was only a couple of blocks.

Buon  Compleanno Summer!!
