SPATARO

The Sacramento Food Group..or part of it anyway. Last night we got together for a meet up at Spataro. This is Dine Downtown Week when participating restaurants have special three course menus for $30.00. We all met at 6:30 and were promptly seated. We were given both the regular menu plus the special three course menu. After ordering drinks and others having theirs refreshed we all pretty much decided that we were ordering off the regular menu, except Dave. Dave decided to order off the special menu. Spataro download pdf here(menu) . Dave had the Tuscan Kale soup, which had great flavor but was just warm not hot. The Nieman Ranch Pork shoulder and the Chocolate cake for desert. We started with appetizers of Beef Carpaccio, the Salumi special.. house made salumi, olives, tepanade, and mozzarella cheese. There may have been another appetizer but at the moment I can't remember. Charlie and I split the Spinach salad, but I don' t think that was spinach, it looked more like Kale. Whatever it was it was good. I really don't remember what the rest had so I'll just tell you what we had..I was too involved in my meal to really pay attention to everyone else. I had the Eggplant and Polenta baked with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese..so good! Charlie had the Bone In Ribeye, which they wouldn't serve raw. I don't know why if you have quality meat. The Carpacio is raw so what is the difference? We also had 3/4? bottles of the Scott Harvey Old Vine Zin.. I think that's what we had. I remember Phil telling me about it and that it was from Amador County. Whatever, it was really good. Desert was the Apple Crostini. Everyone enjoyed their meal ... everything was good. It was a great meal and a very fun night.
I hope more people get involved with the Food Group . We have fun meet ups and everyone is great. Return Home please everyone check it out and participate.

Nice!

I am not sure how much wine we had..but I was feeling no pain. :)

The lamb shanks were to die for. I thought their house-made mozarella tasted like tofu..and not the silken kind. Dave loved the kale and bread soup. I had the frito misto appetizer plate..loved the lemon and garbonzo beans.

We always have a great time. I think you were right when you said, "The Sacramento Food Group Met". I think we have a solid dinner group of 7..maybe 8, at this point.
