Tonight the Meet up group met at Udupi Cafe on Sunrise. There were about 9 of us tonight. This is a vegetarian Indian restaurant and very good. I've blogged about this place before so check out Catherine's blog for a more extensive review and pictures~MUNCHIE MUSINGS.
Sue and I ordered a lot of food ( more than anyone else) simply because we wanted to try so many different dishes. Most of it we shared with the rest of the table and brought home. Everything like I said was very tasty but I thought it needed more heat, it wasn't hot (spicy) enough for me. I did miss the meat, at least I would have liked some chicken but it is a very satisfying meal.
I had a good time, always do with this group of people, plus dinner was relatively inexpensive considering all we had.
I'd go back again.

UDUPI CAFE
Last night 6 1/2 of us met at the the Udupi Cafe on Sunrise Blvd. Rajeesh and Shankari-Stream of Consciousness.. Anne Martin Rolke-Sacatomato , Mr. Sacatomato and baby Sacatomato, Mel-Cooking Schmooking..No Problem and I-Just the 2 of Us.
Udupi Cafe
We started off ordering the appetizer combo platter which to the best of my memory had a Vegetable Samosa, Battered and Fried Eggplant and Green Pepper, a Lentil donut, a crispy lentil cake with different dipping sauces. All were excellent. I ordered the Vegetable Briyani and the
Masala Dosai. The Dosai was a huge crepe stuffed with potatoes and onions and spices, the Briyani was rice mixed with various vegetables and spices and had a yogurt sauce.
There was also an Onion Dosai, Chilly Gobi, batter fried cauliflower sauteed with garlic, ginger and a spicy sauce, Baigan Bartha,
slow cooked eggplant, mashed and cooked with tomatoes, onions and spices,
an okra dish
prepared in a similar way and I think the big puffy bread was the Channa Batura, the bread puff with a Chick pea stew. There was also Partha which is bread stuffed with peas and one stuffed onions plus plain Chapathy. Tons of food for the 6 of us. We almost ran out of table space. Everything was delicious.
This was a winner.. Healthy Vegetarian is how they describe their food.. no one would every miss not having any meat.
I think this is one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to lately.
