BACHI'S BRAISED MINCED BEEF PATTIES WITH ONIONS
serves 4
11/4lb ground beef
4-6 cloves coarsely chopped garlic
3-4 onions depending on size- 1 finely chopped, 3 sliced
1-2 Tbsp soy sauce
1-2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1-2 bell peppers cut into strips
salt and pepper to taste
Place the ground beef, half the garlic and chopped onions in a bowl and mix well. Season with the soy sauce and salt and pepper. Shape into 4 large patties or 8 small patties.
Heat oil in a frying pan on high heat and sear each side of patties quickly on each side. Remove from pan.
Turn down the heat to medium and add the onions and green peppers season with salt and pepper and saute until onions are getting soft, add the remaining garlic and saute until the onions have begun to brown.
Add the burger patties back into the pan, cover and cook on medium low heat until desired doneness. About 5 minutes for medium rare.
Serve the patties on the bed of onions and peppers. Serve with a side of white rice.
* mushrooms would be a good substitute for the bell peppers. A sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds would also be a good addition just before serving.

Oh my Eileen...I can smell it from here! I love how you shared about Japanese grandmother's/Jewish Cooking. Isn't it amazing how we are all really connected by food?!
