This evening though we shouldn't we went to Red Hawk Casino for dinner. We hadn't been to this new casino before so we thought we'd go take a look and also try out the steak house. The Casino is very nice and a little larger than Thunder Valley. They have a child care center and also an Arcade to keep those who don't gamble occupied. Tonight they were having a Chinese New Year celebration with lion dancers so that added to the festivities. One nice touch is that there are drink stations place around the casino. One can help themselves to soft drinks or coffee and tea all at no charge. On the main casino floor they have Wai sushi and Seafood restaurant and Pearl Asian restaurant. Downstairs there is the Waterfall buffet, Koto Grill and Henry's steakhouse. Henry's is nicely appointed in dark wood and neural colors. The menu is extensive with starters ranging from oysters on the half shell to carpcio to seafood towers, soups and salads. Entrees of course had steaks..three types USDA Prime, Oregon raised and American Wagyu. There is also poultry and fish and a list of sides and sauces.
We started with an order of the Oysters and the Kobe Carpacio. Charlie had the Cesar Salad and the Delmonico Steak with a side of mushroom hash. I had the Prime rib and the Tempura Green Beans. Needless to say most of my dinner came home with me. Charlie enjoyed his steak and thought it met his expectations. My prime rib was cooked perfectly and was very tender and flavorful. The Yorkshire pudding that accompanied it, I didn't care for. It tasted too much of nutmeg. The Green beans were excellent. I would just order them for dinner the next time.. a large bowl of crispy perfectly fried tempura. Desert was a decadent Chocolate Cake with more ganache on top.. that came home with me also. Prices were the usual steak house prices, though my prime rib was less expensive than the prime rib at Bandera and so much better and a larger cut at 14oz.
The wine list has an extensive list of wine by the glass..they have half a glass pours and full glass pours. That is something I'd never seen before.
Didn't do any good gambling but it was fun.
