Nohutlu Pilav

My husband loves Garbanzo beans..Shankari Stream of Consciousness.. demonstrated this recipe at her class at William -Sonoma. I knew that Charlie would like this dish. What it is is rice pilaf with onions and garbanzo beans. Basically what your supposed to do is saute minced onions in butter and then saute the rice and then cook it in chicken stock. Half way through the cooking of the rice add the drained and rinsed garbanzo beans and cook until the rice is tender. Well, I was planning to make this last night but had not garbanzo beans. I cooked the rice with chicken stock and we had some of that last night. Tonight I minced onions and sauteed them in lots of butter, added the garbanzo beans and caramelized both the onions and the beans. I then added the left over rice and heated everything though. It was just as good made ass-backwards as it was when Shankari made it as it should be made.

This is a nice way of making it, if we have leftover rice.
