RENO TRIP

We finally got away this weekend and took Tianna to Reno. We got comped at the Peppermill in their new Tuscan Tower. The rooms are gorgeous ours had 2 king beds a 42"flat screen TV and a veiw of the pool. The bathroom was what was great, it was all marble and huge with a 32" flat screen TV a double shower and a jacuzzi tub. Tianna thought she had died and gone to heaven. The beds were really comfortable and I really wanted to bring home the pillows. We spent Friday afternoon at the pool for a couple of hours before we had to get changed for dinner. As I got dressed, I found out I brought 2 different shoes! At least they were both silver but it just didn't work.
I ended up wearing Tianna's white flip flops and going to Marshall's the next day to buy a pair of shoes. This isn't the first time I've done this. We just went to Romanza their Italian restaurant. It was good, nothing spectacular. Tianna had the Prociutto and melon, and the lobster ravioli for dinner, I had the Paparedelle carbonara which was dry and Charlie had the Veal Marsala which he said was good but different from what he's used to. After dinner we headed to the Arcade which is pretty good and Tianna had fun. I left the two of them there and tried my hand at gambling but didn't do any good. We we all tired and headed up to the room around 10:30 but stopped off at the Biscotti Cafe and got some gelato. Saturday we got up leisurely and went to the Cafe again and Tianna got a Bananas Foster Crepe which was huge and delicious. I thought I'd be good and had some yogurt and a cup of coffee. After breakfast we headed out to Cabella's Sporting Goods Store.. It opened up a few months ago in Boomtown. It is a huge store with lots of mounted animals and a huge fish tank as well as a wide assortment of sporting goods. I took some pictures of Tianna with the animals

After we walked through the store we went and got my shoes and stopped by Shepplers for Charlie to buy some boots. We then headed back to Peppermill and back out to the pool until dinner. I have to mention the pool is new to the Tuscan Tower area. It is very family oriented with 3 life guards and a rather shallow pool, 4ft. But great for kids and just wading around. The chaise and rocking patio chairs were so comfortable. Great for taking a nap. Drink and food service available also. For dinner we went to Charlie Palmer's which is my favorite restaurant in Reno or just about any where else. Tianna had the oysters on the half shell, I had the Foie Gras and Charlie had their salad special. Everyone thought the starters were outstanding. Entrees were a Bone in NY and mushrooms for Charlie and T and I split the one in Rib Eye and a Twice Baked potato. Everything was delicious.. T proclaim this the Best Meal she ever had. Our waiter was wonderful and the service was perfect. In fact he and the manager came over because they thought the steak that Charlie ordered wasn't cooked to his liking (raw). They can't serve raw steak but it was just seared slightly on either side. Charlie said his steak was fine but they insisted that the desert was on the house. Desert was Bread Pudding for Charlie and the Chocolate Duo for me. Wow, both were great and rich. We went down town and walked around a bit and T got a t-shirt for he half brother. It was good to walk off some of that food. We headed back and after getting T settled in the room with a warning not to open the door etc. we went down and did a little gambling again to no avail. Since I didn't like leaving her alone in the room for too long we headed back up and called it a night. A nice relaxing weekend.
