Booyah

A few weeks ago we (Charlie, my mother and I) went to Booyah for dinner or my birthday. I had read good reviews about it and had been wanting to try it. It is located in a strip mall along Greenback Ln.
I wanted to know what Booyah was, our server Morgan said it was a thick soup popular in Wisconsin.. that's it? She laughed and said people expect some kind of wild answer, but that's it. It is basically a vegetable soup with pork, chicken, beef or all three. I thought it was something that the Marines always yell... so much for what I know.

We started out with the Fried Calamari and the Hot Kettle Chips.
The Calamari was ordinary. It came with a mayonnaise cocktail sauce aoli and apricot chipoltle sauce. That was a weird combination... not bad but different. The Hot Kettle Chips was just that, Krinkle Cut Kettle Chips topped with crumbled Gorgonzola and sprinkled with Pesto sauce. This is all put under a broiler until it is all melted and gooey. OMG! It is so good! It is so simple and I'm going to make it at home for sure. It is awesome.. everyone loved it.
We all had the Cesar salad which Morgan proclaimed to be the best. It was just OK, not great. It lacked flavor, the best I could say for it was that the lettuce was very fresh.
Sunday was Cajun night so I had the Jambalaya. It was very good. The Jambalaya was made with white fish, shrimp, scallops, and chicken along with all the spices that made it hot but not so spicy that you couldn't enjoy all the flavors. It was one of the best Jambalaya I have had.
My mother had the half rack of ribs which came with pureed sweet potato and steamed broccoli. My mother ate half of the rack plus the sides.. an accomplishment for her. She said it was very good.
Charlie had the Grilled Rib eye steak which was accompanied by sour cream mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The rib eye was huge! Charlie doesn't usually like rib eye says the texture is too soft, but he really enjoyed this one. It came out exactly as he ordered it.. Mooing (very very rare). He said he would definitely come back again for this steak.
Everyone enjoyed their entrees. Of course we had to have desert.
My mother had a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. Charlie and I split the Bread Pudding. It was warm and comforting. Best of all, no raisins. It was drizzled with caramel.. it was a little sweet but it was good.. they also had really good coffee.

Sunday is Cajun night, Wednesday is Pasta night and Friday and Sat. night is Prime Rib night. I'd like to try their Prime Rib to see how it is. The night we were there there seemed to be some staff shortage or the busser was new and didn't know what to do. Service was a little slow, but not intolerably. Morgan our server was a doll, she was cute and bubbly and everything on the menu was the BEST. All in all we had a good time and had very good dinners.
