So one night I was watching Diners Drive Ins and Dives and saw Gatsbys featured. I hadn't remembered hearing about it before but it is on Alta Arden Expressway and Fulton Ave. It is the old Katana Japanese restaurant building. According to the show everything is home made..everything from the mayonnaise to the pickles to the potato chips. The menu depends on what is seasonally available. One of the featured item on DDD was the Beet Sliders. They aren't on the dinner menu but they have them as appetizers at dinner. They were thick sliced and grilled beet with onions and green godess dressing on a slider bun with the home made chips.

I had the Fire Burger which come with fries, chips or salad. I had the salad with my burger thinking it would be a small salad, wrong..it could have been dinner all by its self. The burger was spicy, thick juicy and plain wonderful. The waitress brought a stack of napkins, said I'd need them. Yes, it's so juicy you do.

Deserts are all ice cream based.. Banana Split, sundaes, floats. The special milk shake tonight was the Elvis. Banana, peanut butter and chocolate..I had a sip and it was good! The kids had a small sundae.

Nice casual and good for kids. There were the 6 of us so we made reservations. You will need them because the restaurant isn't large plus it is very popular and fills up quickly.
Check out the
