HAPPY NEW YEARS

I want to wish all our loyal readers a very Happy New Year.  I've had a relatively quiet holiday season this year.  With my daughter and her family stationed in Italy there was really no Christmas spirit around here. We just had a quiet evening at home with my friend Faith  bringing us some lasagna for dinner.  Actually this was the most peaceful and stress free Christmas I've ever spent.
New Years was spent in Reno. We stayed at the Peppermill Casino in the Tuscany wing which has rooms with flat screen TV's in both the room and the bathroom and also has a jacuzzi tub.  New Years Eve dinner was at the steakhouse at Harrah's.  We started with a seafood platter, Cesar salad made the old fashion way table side and Charlie had the prime rib.  I just had a bite of his prime rib which was delicious.  We ended dinner with the famous Cafe Diablo..a showy drink of  Cointreau, brandy, and Grand Marnier and a splash of coffee..some cloves, cinnamon stick and orange and lemon peel that they set on fire for the "wow" factor for the drink.  We  spent the rest of the evening in one of the lounges listening to some oldies band...which really was pretty good.  We almost made it to New Years..but about 11:00pm we were done.  Yes, getting old is the pits..can't even make it to the New Year any more.
All in all it was a good time.
I hope this year we can bring you more recipes and attend some interesting events to report to you.  Of course we will be doing a lot of eating and there are a lot of new restaurants that I and I'm sure Karen are eager to try.
I hope this year brings you much eating and new food discoveries.
